Do The Thing

A room, pointed at a goal · Do The Thing

You know the thing. You just haven’t done it.

You’ve known for months. And you’ve started to wonder if that’s a you problem.

It’s NOT. It’s a room problem.

Nobody does the thing alone. Get in a room chasing the same kind of goal, and the thing you’ve been circling finally moves.

That’s the whole method. Pick your door below.

That quiet place is horse mode. You show up, but the camera’s off. I lived there for years — I gave a TEDx talk and was too scared to promote my own video. This is where you get messy and become real.

You don’t force your way through. The room moves you. And you never graduate it — every time you start something new you drop back to horse mode, and that’s not going backwards, that’s the move before the next move.

THE CAUSE WINS · YOU WIN · THE THING GETS DONE

Meet Stacey

“I built the Comfort Circle because I lived inside it.”

I had the plan. I had the audience. I knew exactly what I was supposed to do. And I was still hiding in horse mode.

For a long time I thought that made me the problem. I built and exited a $35M staffing company over 20 years. My TEDx talk on this - The power of community to help you achieve your goals- is approaching 2 million views. And I still didn’t want to promote my own video.

Here’s what finally moved me: it wasn’t more information. I’d drowned in information. What I needed was a room that moved me through it - and the day my own room did that for me, I stopped trying to find the door alone and built one.

I didn’t need to be braver. I needed a room. So I made one.

Then I made a few more. Now it’s the whole job: I create interactive experiences - People Parties, Challenges, Impact Parties, Palooza - that bring people together around a shared goal, and move them the way a room finally moved me.

Every room runs on the Win-Win-Win — the cause wins, you win, and the thing actually gets done.

The movement in action

This is what it looks like when the room shows up.

Walk into one of these rooms on any given day and hands go up, someone pitches the offer they’ve been sitting on for a year, three people say yes before she’s finished talking, the calendar fills, somebody ships the thing they swore they’d do last spring and gets cheered for it, and somewhere a person who’s been in horse mode for months finally turns the camera on.

A People Party, a challenge, an Impact Party — same move: a room pointed at a goal. Come see it for yourself at the next one.

Your move.

The circle doesn’t move on its own. It moves when you get in — and you don’t have to be ready, you have to be in.

Still deciding? Take the smallest possible step. One email a week, the one thing worth doing, no commitment.

I’ll see you in the room. Do the thing. Don’t wait for opportunity. Create it.
